A cultivar originating in Greece where it is the primary oil variety. The tree is medium in vigour with a sparse spreading canopy. The leaves are small and narrow, dark green on the top. Koronieki is a sturdy tree and will withstand windy conditions. It has drought resistance and prefers a warm climate, so it goes without saying that it doesn’t like the cold.
This variety fruits early in its life and is productive year after year. Koronieki is resistant to peacock spot, it should be planted amongst other varieties for pollination. The fruit is small and ovoid in shape and ripens early to mid season, machine harvesting has proven difficult as the fruit does not fall easily from the tree. The oil is high in quality and very stable.
